Our process

Approach

Creative design, accurate estimates, efficient operations, knowledgeable crew and a dedicated staff are what you can expect from every stage of an O'Brien Landscape project.

Below is a quick look at the life cycle of a project and the sequence of steps to bring ideas and dreams to a living reality.

Consultation

One of our design team members will meet with you to explore the possibilities of your project. We believe there are never problems, only opportunities. By gaining a greater understanding of your situation and the scope of your project, we can determine how to get there. There is NO charge for the initial visit.

Design Development

We begin with an onsite analysis to gain a greater understanding of the property. We examine where the water goes, how the angle of the sun affects the architecture and vegetation, the best lines of sight and other factors unique to the site. Photographs, measurements, and relevant issues will be assessed. We will prepare concepts and visual models to express solutions for your project. We can meet onsite or in our office to discuss the concepts, plans, models, and build a budget for the work.

O'Brien Landscape charges for design work because, unlike some of our competitors, we feel the value of free design is worth about as much as you pay for it. Fees vary based on scope and will be openly discussed at the initial consultation.

Project Proposal // Permits

We will prepare and accurate estimate built to the penny. Our bids are not padded and don’t hide additional charges. Proposals will clearly spell out what is included and what is not. If the project scope changes, as agreed by both parties, we will clearly communicate any additional charges. There is no fee attached to receiving a proposal however, we do charge to complete construction permit applications and necessary documentation.

Construction // Project Management

You will not find more pleasant, efficient crews than O'Brien crews. They are making it happen in front of your eyes. Project management will be on-site daily to facilitate project progress and keep the job on track. This is where the real fun happens.

Project Assessment // Completion

As the project comes to a close, we will scour every detail to insure we button up properly. Any unfinished issues will be handled prior to us considering the project complete. This is a great time to appreciate how the process unfolded and now the enjoyment begins. Final invoices will be presented.
